You've probably heard many different opinions on how you should go about grabbing cheap airline tickets. If you're preparing to make the journey to China, affordable airline tickets are probably on your mind. We'll cover all the tested and approved ways of getting airline tickets that don't strain your wallet. We'll also suggest some of the best airline ticket comparison websites that you could cross-reference to make the best decision.
You'll be surprised at how small things can change your price tag on your flight tickets dramatically. There are many factors that influence the price including distance and the actual country you're flying from ie. does your country get direct flights to China or not? We'll give you some tips and suggest the websites we think give you the best deal for your money.
1. Search incognito!
Most internet browsers today allow you the option of searching on a separate window incognito. This is very much similar to using your browsers normally, except you'll notice that your searches are not being predicted for you and your passwords are not being automatically. This is because incognito browsing disables cookies for you automatically, making it impossible for websites to discern exactly what you're doing but still being able to see that you're on there. It's a good way to maintain your privacy and also a good way to get your internet history deleted as soon as you leave a website or a page.
The rumours are true. Not so much rumours as they are facts. Using cookies, these websites can track what journeys you're interested and and remember to increase the price and urgency (by claiming there are only a few seats left) to make you purchase it faster. Don't fall for this.
2. Sale day!
The rumours are true, as in, they are actually facts. There are cheaper days and more expensive days during the week when you can choose to fly. Most people tend to fly out on the weekends, seeing as weekdays are normally filled up with other things to do. In this effect, you'd find that mid-week flights tend to be cheaper on the whole. Being able to check for this could help you decide your schedule a lot more thoroughly and effectively.
Here's one way we like to do this. There are several other search engines you can follow the same steps on get the same (or differing) result to help you make a decision. Kiwi.com and Google Flights work similarly to Skyscanner, plus they have map views as well, so you can see where the airport is. For tracking when and where is cheapest to fly, Hopper also offer price analysis and track fluctuations (i.e. when is best to fly).
Step 1. Go on Skyscanner website or download the app
Step 2. Enter your departure & arrival cities
Step 3. Select “one-way”
Step 4. On a computer: click “Depart” but instead of entering a date, select “Whole Month”, and then “Cheapest Month” so you can browse all dates to see which is cheapest. Hit “Search flights” to easily see which date is cheapest.
3. Don't shy away from budget!
Yes, budget airlines often rack up a unsavoury reputation, but what else would you expect? In order to offer you their low prices, they end up cutting down this meals, their luggage size allowance and their on-flight entertainment budget. You must, however, learn to look past that- and instead of reciting the (not-so) joys of budget flying, and begin to enjoy their budget prices that still get you from A to B.
You must be aware that budget airlines do tend to fly out from smaller airports in cities and have odd departure times. If these work out for you, there isn't much of a reason not to consider them as an option. You must also remember to book and pay for your extra luggage, as 9/10 times, budget airlines will only allow a limited amount or only cabin bags. Keep this in mind. And read the fine print!

4. Book now. Don't wait.
Rarely do tickets ever get cheaper as you get closer to your desired departure date. If you know when you want to fly, book your tickets as soon as possible. Not only does this provide peace of mind, but it will also allow you to plan for other things.
We recommend you book as soon as you find a price you like. Don't wait.
5. Search Engine Connoisseur
Use the best search engines! Many are known to pull deals from each other as well to constantly offer you the cheapest and best deal out there. Don't hesitate to try them all, cross-reference and see which one you find the best. Here are some of our favourite choices:
